Bill Bell, GHSA Treasurer
Director, Kentucky Office of Highway Safety
Bill serves on the Governors Highway Safety Association Board of Directors as the Treasurer and Business Development and Fundraising chairman. He previously acted as GHSA's NHTSA Region 3 representative.
Bill graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BBA in Accounting. After graduation, he worked in public accounting for three years and then ventured into private accounting mainly in the healthcare industry.
In 2008, Bill was hired as the Director of Accounts for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC). In his two-and-a-half years there, his division realized over $2 million in savings for the Cabinet, some of which is recurring savings.
In July 2011, Bill was named Executive Assistant for the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS). The KOHS saw the 6th consecutive decrease in highway fatalities in 2011. He is now the Executive Director of the Office of Highway Safety. Collaboration has been a major theme since he has assumed directorship.
Bill has served as Treasurer for both SASHTO 2011 and MAASTO 2012 conferences. Both conferences had unprecedented surpluses, which were used to reimburse the host state and provide engineering scholarships. He was also chosen to represent KYTC as a member of Leadership KY 2012.
Bill and his wife, Dana, have been married for 16 years and have four children.
