GHSA Remembers Kevin Quinlan
GHSA and the entire highway safety
community were deeply saddened at
the sudden loss of Kevin Quinlan in
December. Quinlan was a tireless advocate
for highway safety as Chief of NTSB's
Safety Advocacy Division. He worked
closely with GHSA Members to bring about
numerous lifesaving laws. According to
Congresswoman Shelly Berkley (D-NV), who
honored Quinlan with a statement in the
Congressional Record, "Quinlan was a mentor to countless traffic
safety advocates and an inspiration to the thousands of people who
lost loved ones to the preventable crime of drunk driving. One of
his greatest passions was the fight to stop drunk driving. His expert
testimony led to the passage of many effective countermeasures
across this nation." GHSA Chairman Vernon F. Betkey, Jr., said that
"Kevin was a particularly close friend to the Association and its
member states. He will be greatly missed."
