FHWA Introduces New HSIP Peer-to-Peer Program

The Federal Highway Administration Office of Safety has launched a new initiative to help agencies effectively manage and deploy their Highway Safety Improvement Programs (HSIPs) to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries on public roadways.

HSIP Peer-to-Peer Program Logo
The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Program provides a range of technical assistance for state and local transportation safety professionals through access to peers or other professionals with expertise in various HSIP-related topics, such as Strategic Highway Safety Plans (SHSP), High Risk Rural Roads (HRRR) or Railway-Highway Crossings Programs.

Program assistance ranges from an immediate answer to a question by phone or email to on-site technical assistance from an expert or peer. The P2P Program also may make referrals to technical experts or an experienced peer in the topic area of interest or foster formal peer exchanges or events with other organizations.

To utilize the HSIP Peer-to-Peer Program, call the hotline at 877-473-0953 or email hsipp2p@dot.gov. Learn more at http://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/p2p.
