Applications Now Being Sought for 2011 National Roadway Safety Awards
Applications are now being accepted for the 2011 National Roadway Safety Awards competition. Jointly sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and the Roadway Safety Foundation, the awards recognize roadway safety achievements that move the United States “toward zero deaths.” The competition highlights exemplary roadway safety efforts and publicizes best practices. Awards are given for infrastructure, operation and program-related improvements and programs that address safety needs.
All are welcome to apply, including local, state and federal government agencies such as state highway safety offices, nonprofits, associations and for-profit companies. GHSA has participated in the judging of the submissions in the past.
Winners receive an invitation to attend a national-level recognition event in Washington, D.C. in November. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood served as the keynote speaker for the 2009 Awards program at an event on Capitol Hill.
