“2020 was a terrible year in many regards including traffic safety,” said Jonathan Adkins with the Governors Highway Safety Association. “We had a big spike in traffic deaths we are continuing to see that in 2021. We are also seeing it in the local DC, Maryland, Virginia area, particularly in the District where we’ve seen high profile crashes, cyclists killed, pedestrians killed, a young child crossing the street killed.”
