This year’s symposium will examine traffic safety best practices for buying a safer car, building safer cars, implementing programs and laws that make roads safer for all highway users, in addition to continuing the dialogs on teen safety, and advanced driver assist technologies. As the pandemic swept the country last year, more people stayed home, and roadway trips declined. Unfortunately, as the roads emptied, risky driving behaviors increased. An alarming road safety crisis has emerged - higher speeds, lower safety belt use and an increase in impaired driving were indicated.
GHSA Senior Director of External Engagement Pam Shadel Fischer will participate as a speaker during a session titled "Safer Roads and Roadway Users: Ensuring Safe Passage" at 12:15 p.m. ET.
