The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) was a recipient of GHSA and Ford Driving Skills for Life's 2016 teen safe driving grants. Through this grant, KOHS was able to host a Teen Driver Safety Day at the 2016 Kentucky State Fair.

Leading up to the event, KOHS partnered with media company iHeartMedia, who promoted the state fair booth on a variety of statewide and local radio stations. On the day of the fair, iHeartMedia was on-hand to engage and interact with teens and parents who visited the Teen Driver Safety booth, which included a wealth of safety information, resources, and activities.

Teens visiting the KOHS and iHeartMedia booth were invited to take part in impaired and distracted driving simulations, and also received free branded t-shirts for filling out DSFL pledge cards and taking a safety survey. The teens were also entered into a drawing to receive iPad minis, and the two winners were announced on a live radio show as well as on social media. The live show, which was broadcast throughout the day, also featured interviews with local radio celebrities, the Executive Director of the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, and fair attendees.

By collaborating with iHeartMedia and hosting the Teen Traffic Safety Day at Kentucky's state fair, KOHS was able to enhance their reach across the entire state, educating hundreds of teens on safe driving behavior through a single-day event.
