GHSA's Annual Report highlights the Association's accomplishments for the 2022 Fiscal Year (July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022).
The report provides updates on GHSA's activities and achievements, focusing on three key areas:
Collaborating with Congress and Federal Agencies
GHSA worked with Congress to reauthorize federal transportation programs and include several critical recommendations to improve the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's highway safety grant programs through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs act, influenced the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Roadway Safety Strategy through the document's presentation of a comprehensive approach that includes behavioral, infrastructure and vehicle interventions, and post-crash care, and produced several new behavioral traffic safety research reports.
Advancing Traffic Safety Issues
Through its strong partnerships, GHSA awarded more than $245,000 in grants to its state members to address drunk and drug-impaired driving, pedestrian and micromobility safety, and distracted driving. The association also produced reports addressing automated vehicle technology, pedestrian safety and distracted driving.
Expanding and Delivering Member Services
GHSA planned its first in-person Executive Seminar for Program Management since 2019, hosted 21 webinars in response to breaking news, grant opportunities and research reports with more than 3,000 attendees, and produced a wealth of communications content to keep members apprised of the latest highway safety developments.
