AAA Missouri was recognized for its sustained efforts to educate the public and policymakers about distracted driving. The organization mobilized a broad range of stakeholders to call for passage of the Siddens Benning Hands Free Law, which bars drivers in the state from holding a cell phone while behind the wheel. The bill, which is named after two people killed by distracted drivers, was signed into law in 2023. AAA Missouri also encourages youth to get involved in preventing distracted driving and reached more than 50,000 high school students during its an annual competition where youth pledge to be distraction-free and challenge their peers to do the same.
