Washington Traffic Safety Commission
The Washington Traffic Safety Commission, Washington State Liquor Control Board and MillerCoors have partnered with Puget Sound area bars and restaurants to encourage social responsibility and safe rides after alcohol consumption.
Click It 2 Ride offers a safe ride option with a quick snap of a QR code displayed in hundreds of bars and restaurants. This interactive marketing program provides an alternative to driving after drinking and supports public safety. A click of the QR code grants instant access to 1-800-Taxicab to connect with a safe ride.
In Washington, nearly 1,200 people were killed in drunk driving crashes over the past five years. The Click It 2 Ride campaign creates an innovative resource that leverages technology to help people to make a responsible choice after drinking and adds another tool citizens can use to help Washington achieve our vision of zero traffic deaths.
During the 2011 holiday season, CBS Radio Seattle featured the public service campaign on their radio, TV, and digital assets, providing 5,724,600 gross impressions. This resulted in more than 1,200 drinkers scanning the QR code and using the 1-800 Taxicab web page to summon a safe ride home.
The Click It 2 Ride campaign will continue to run throughout the year during statewide impaired driving emphasis timeframes.
