The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) was one of GHSA and Ford Driving Skills For Life's 2016 teen safe driving grant recipients. Through this grant, ADECA was able to organize four safe driving events at high schools throughout the state, entitled "No Crash Course."

Alabama No Crash CourseTailored to the needs of each participating school, every "No Crash Course" featured presentations from local and national teen safe driving influencers, including organizations like MADD, AAA, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency as well as well-known Alabama dirt track racer Cruz Skinner. Speakers covered key teen safety issues including seat belt use, distracted driving, impaired driving, and Graduated Drivers Licensing.

In addition to speaking, participating organizations set up booths with giveaways and resources to further engage students and answer their questions. When possible, ADECA also displayed Skinner's racecar, a rollover simulator, and new Ford car models for the students. Impairment simulation goggles were also on-hand for students to try on and attempt a Standard Field Sobriety Test. Lastly, participating students who filled out a survey at the event received gift cards, and each school was awarded a pair of impairment simulation goggles for their Driver's Education and Health classes. In total, over 1,000 Alabama teens attended the "No Crash Course" events, and the courses garnered significant media attention throughout the state.
