In April of 2019, through a grant from Ford Driving Skills for Life (Ford DSFL) and GHSA, the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office (NDOT-HSO) educated 16 teen drivers about the importance of safe driving.
Ford DSFL held a half-day event in Kearney, NE filled with learning activities designed to help young drivers reduce their risk of being involved in a motor vehicle crash. The student participants drove through challenging road courses among other interactive learning stations including several driving simulators to help the teen drivers understand the effects of impaired driving, distracted driving and the lifesaving value of a seat belt. Educational stations also taught participants about the limited viewing zone from the driver's seat of a semi-truck, what to do if pulled over by a law enforcement officer and the valuable resources at www.drivingskillsforlife.com.
