Summary

Lyft is looking for a Community Safety Policy Manager to join our Global Public Policy team based in Washington DC. This individual will be a subject matter expert on safety and accessibility policy issues, with experience and interest in the transportation industry. This person will collaborate cross functionally with our safety, product and marketing teams to develop safety and accessibility policies for domestic and international markets.  This position will require 20 percent travel and report to the Senior Director of Global Public Policy.

SJOLs function as educators, writers, consultants and liaisons, to share the latest research on impaired driving with the judges of their state. In addition to informing sentencing and interventions in this manner, SJOLs can also provide important insight to policy makers attempting to improve impaired driving traffic safety.

This State Judicial Outreach Liaison (SJOL) position is a part of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Judicial Outreach Liaison (JOL) Program providing peer-to-peer education through its Fund for Justice and Education. The purpose of the ABA JOL program is to provide a foundation for outreach efforts to educate and inform local judges on impaired driving and highway safety issues.

This position is responsible for assisting in the administration of the Highway Safety Program, which operates under Federal Transportation laws (Title 23, Public Law 89-564, 23 U.S.C. 402). This includes all programs under Section 402, State and Community Highway Safety Grant Program, and Section 405 National Priority Safety Program.

The Associate conducts qualitative (e.g., research, interviewing outreach and report/proposal development) and quantitative (e.g., development of spreadsheet tools and management datasets) assignments to support efforts such as statewide and regional safety planning studies (e.g. Strategic Highway Safety Plans, Highway Safety Plans, Highway Safety Improvement Program, and Safe Streets and Roads for All) and transportation policy analysis.
