Automated Vehicle Technology for Emergency Responders

April 6, 2024 | 10:00 a.m. MT | Denver, CO

GHSA, in partnership with the Emergency Responder Safety Institute (ERSI) and Waymo, is offering a free training program on automated vehicle (AV) technology for emergency responders – law enforcement, firefighters, EMS providers, tow truck operators and others. This is an axillary training provided in conjunction with the Lifesavers Conference on Roadway Safety in Denver.

Time is of the essence when dealing with emergency situations, especially when a life is at risk. Emergency responders need to understand how AV technologies work and how to handle various types of emergency situations involving an active AV. The goal of this program is to provide a basic understanding of AVs and their operation, and to provide guidance on how to interact with an AV involved in an emergency situation. This program will also provide a list of various resources related to the subject that responders can utilize to further their training and preparation for dealing with AVs now and in the future.

Location: Colorado Convention Center, Room TBD
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 am. Mountain Time (local time in Denver)
Fee: None, but pre-registration is required
Register: Register online at the same time as you register for the Lifesavers conference.
