Pedestrian Deaths Have Fallen for the First Time Since the Pandemic

Pedestrians are now twice as likely to be killed in the D.C. area as they were a decade ago, even as more local leaders promise safer streets. For the third consecutive year in 2024, the Washington region recorded more than 100 pedestrian deaths.

GHSA and the National Road Safety Foundation awarded $25,000 to help the Texas Department of Transportation host youth transportation safety events across the state where students learned about road patterns and best practices for riding safely.
