This guidance document is intended to assist SHSOs in developing their Annual Reports (ARs). The latest guidance provided by NHTSA in correspondence dated November 22, 2019, has been included in this May 2020 AR Guidance revision.
Based upon the issues mentioned in the October 22, 2019, Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on Traffic Safety, the NHTSA Regional Offices clarified the requirement for states to assess and report progress made in achieving fatality targets. These clarifications have been added to this revision of the AR Guidance.
