      The recently formed Delaware State Police Highway Safety Unit conducted about 2,000 proactive traffic stops in the first three months of operation according to statistics provided to WDEL News. Those stops resulted in nearly 1,300 speeding charges.

      The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is proposing new regulations for vehicle design intended to reduce the number of pedestrians killed and seriously injured in crashes on U.S. roads.

      GHSA and AASHTO will be cohosting a session at the 2024 AASHTO Safety Summit and Peer Exchange focused on how to engage road users in reducing unsafe driver behavior. The Summit will bring together state DOT leaders, management, and practitioners, as well as transportation professionals in the public, private, non-profit, and academic sectors, to share notable examples of programs, policies, and projects that incorporate safety for all road users throughout the roadway lifecycle and agency activities. All highway safety offices are invited to attend the Summit and participate in discussions with a broad range of highway safety professionals.
