Pedestrian Deaths Declining Since COVID-19 Pandemic, Report Finds

The Missouri Department of Transportation was recently awarded a national grant to help fund a youth safety initiative known as “traffic gardens.”

About 50% more pedestrians were killed during the first six months of 2024 compared to a decade ago, although the number is down 2.6% from the prior year.

Volunteers from the "Street Smart" organization took to Georgia Avenue in Northwest D.C. during morning rush hour, serving as "walking billboards" to promote road safety.
